Meet Dr. Bar-Zion

Dr_Bar-ZionDr. Bar-Zion was raised in the San Fernando Valley and attended the University of California at Irvine where he was involved in academics as well as research. Dr. Bar-Zion continued his education at S.U.N.Y at Buffalo School of Dental Medicine where he received his Doctor of Dental Surgery Degree. He completed his dental school education at S.U.N.Y at Buffalo and graduated first in his class with highest honors and was designated Summa Cum Laude. University_of_floridaFollowing graduation from dental school, Dr. Bar-Zion was accepted into the University of Florida Orthodontic and Dentofacial Orthopedics program. There he obtained his Orthodontic Specialist Degree as well as his Masters. Dr. Bar-Zion was the Chief Resident during his third year at the University of Florida and was extensively involved in research as well as patient care. Some of Dr. Bar-Zion’s publications include:

Dr_Bar-Zion2After completing his Specialty training in Orthodontics and receiving his Masters’ Degree from the University of Florida, Dr. Bar-Zion moved back to Southern California. Shortly after he settled in Newbury Park, he opened the Moorpark and Newbury Park offices. Both offices are equipped with the latest and state of the art technology.

Dr. Bar-Zion is Board Certified by the American Board of Orthodontics and is currently an assistant Professor and faculty at the University of Southern California department of Orthodontics. There he engages in various research projects including the development of an in vitro cell stretching technique and apparatus as well as a ‘chewing machine’ to validate a 3D jaw motion tracking device.

Dr. Bar-Zion is also a nationally recognized speaker and lecturer, and has been invited on numerous occasions to lecture at the American Association of Orthodontists’ annual meetings. His primary focus is technology and its application in clinical orthodontics. He has lectured around the country in such places as Hawaii, Chicago, Orlando, Miami, San Francisco, and Philadelphia to name a few and his presentations are very well received as the growing use of technology is an existing and sought after topic. Recently, Dr. Bar-Zion was a member of the organizing and focus committee for the AAO’s inaugural ‘Office of the Future’ presentation, he also frequently reviews scientifc articles for the American Journal of Orthodontics and Dentofacial Orthopedics and served as the Website Editor for the CAO.

When Dr. Bar-Zion is not treating patients, lecturing, teaching, or attending continuing education and study clubs, he enjoys spending time with his family and engaging in hobbies. Dr. Bar-Zion and his wife Mandy have two children, Emma and Ryan. They enjoy going to the beach, museums, and fairs. Dr. Bar-Zion also enjoys archery, construction projects, hiking, skiing, mountain biking, and watching movies.
